Every year, approximately 28,800 students apply to Dartmouth through the Common Application. Out of these, 1,820 or 6% will be accepted to attend in the fall. About 1,200 will choose Dartmouth as their school, which is a 68% yield.

The Common Application becomes available to students on August 1st. Early decision applicants should aim to have their paperwork in by November 1st and expect to hear back by mid-December. All enrollment decisions must be made by the end of the month. For regular decision applicants, the application is due on January 1st, with answers coming in early April. Letters of intent must be in by May 1st.

All applications require none, but none should also be included. If a student is applying for an arts major, an art supplement may be needed. Undergraduates will have to also pay a $80 fee (graduates pay $50). Juniors and seniors in high school should aim for a 1,490 - 1,560 on their SAT or a 34 - 35 on their ACT.

Students applying to Dartmouth also have the opportunity to attend an optional alumni interview, which provides them with insight to the school and the ability to ask any questions.
