Brown University has a 6 to 1 student to faculty ratio. Over the years, the faculty has included Nobel Laureates, former world leaders, famous writers, and many other national and world award winners. The school also offers programs such as study abroad, ROTC (Army, Air Force, and Navy), and teacher certification. Currently, there are over 700 faculty and 4,600 staff members on campus.
After four years, 80% graduate from Brown, with 96% graduating in six years. Almost all freshman decide to stay after their first year, resulting in a first year retention rate of 99%.
Although known for its diversity, most students are from the Northeast, including New York, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Many other students are from Illinois and California.
