Every year, Penn receives approximately 59,500 applications from prospective freshman with an acceptance rate of 6% or 3,570 students. 69% of applicants decide to attend the university in the fall, resulting in a freshman class of 2,480.

The University of Pennsylvania asks that students aim for a SAT combined range of 1,500 - 1,570 or an ACT composite range of 34 - 36. All applications should be completed using The Common Application on their website and must include none. The school also recommends that students add none to their application. Undergraduates will pay a fee of $75 and graduates, $90; however, this fee can be waived under certain circumstances.

For applicants who are sure that Penn will be their school of choice, Early Action is recommended. These applications are due on November 1st with interviews in October, November, or December. Students should expect to hear the school’s decision by mid-December and must let the school know intent by January 5th. For Regular Applicants, applications are due by January 5th, with interviews between December and March. Decisions by the school will be made by April 1st and students must respond by May 1st if they wish to attend.

The University of Pennsylvania prides itself on taking an entire student’s application into consideration, not concentrating on specific points. Applications should include a student’s accomplishments, dreams, aspirations, and extracurricular activities.
