Swarthmore is one of the most selective schools in the country, choosing to accept only about 1,000 of 14,300 applicants, a 7% acceptance rate. 42% or 400 students will enroll for the following fall.

To apply to Swarthmore, students are asked to use one of these applications: Common, Coalition, or Questbridge. none and a $$60 fee are required for all applicants as well as an interview, which may take place before or after the application is turned in. For students applying for drama, art, or writing related majors, a separate writing supplement will be needed. We also suggest that applicants include none in their packet.

The admissions department at Swarthmore looks at the entire application, not individual pieces, wishing for a diverse class with many different strengths. They will also take a student’s access to resources and opportunities into account. For SATs and ACTs, students should aim for a 1,460 - 1,550 SAT Combined range or a 33 - 35 ACT Composite range.

For students positive that Swarthmore will be their school of choice for the following year, early decision is recommended. Applications will become due on November 15th, with answers within the month. For regular decisions, the deadline is January 1st with decisions made by March 24th. All students can check their application status at the admissions portal online.
