Ways to improve your mental health: 1. Give your mental illness was a name. It lightens the mood as well as gives you a name to blame helping you process your emotions better. 2. Find meaning in everyday activities. It may spark a sense of fulfillment, purpose and happiness. 3. Try meditating when overwhelmed. Brains go into overload mode when in distress. Taking a moment or two to calm down will help you get back on track. 4. If you need one, take a sad day. AKA mental health break or day off. This can help you grieve, cry, and feel your emotions giving your mind and body a release in the comfort of your home. 5. Write something that?s bothering you down before bed. By writing a list or a few sentences helps you sleep better knowing you can always revisit it in the morning. 6. Make sure you share how you?re feeling with at least one person, whether it?s a sister or a friend (or both). You don?t need to go through it alone.

INDIANAPOLIS - NSIC Men's Golf continues to have two teams in the third NCAA Men's Golf Regional Ranking of 2024-25. Winona State moved up a spot to seventh while Concordia-St. Paul moved up two spots to ninth in the third and final ranking. A total of 80 teams and 32 individuals will be selected for regional competition. There will be four regional sites where two regions will meet and conduct regional tournaments. The NCAA Midwest/Central Super Regional will be played on May 8-10 at St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Missouri; hosted by Missouri Western University and St. Joseph Sports Commission. Two individuals and a minimum of three teams from each regional will advance to the finals, while the eight remaining team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year?s head-to-head medal play portion of the championships. The NCAA Men's Golf Championships will take place May 19-23 at PGA National Resort; Champion Course; Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic University and Palm Beach County Sports Commission. Logan Chouinard, Peyton Coahran, Javier Casariego and Tyler Gandrud all fired under par rounds. The 3 Warrior freshmen were a combined 7 under par for the day. This past Spring and Summer, a subset of our Chemistry faculty worked on identifying the utility and drawbacks of student use of ChatGPT and other Large Language Models in student Chemistry lab reports. Just a few of the research stories that were told at the recent Ramaley Research Celebration. Bonus: one of our spring graduates is featured! We're so proud of all of our majors, minors, and students!

Attention Students: We have $15,000 in scholarships to award this year to our Chemistry Majors! This year, we have streamlined the application process to help get you all of the support you've earned. Right now, we only have three applicants, so get your applications in! The application deadline for returning students is February 15, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.

Major: ACS biochemistry Plans after Graduation: I will be working full time in the wet chemistry department at Dairyland Laboratories in Arcadia, WI where I work with the ICP-OES. My plans are to stay there until June and then possibly find work in pharmaceutical sales or apply to graduate school. Best thing about being a Chemistry Major: I have loved forming relationships with the chemistry faculty who are always willing to support their students! They have been exceptional resources in finding research and career connections and opportunities. What I will miss most about my time here at WSU: The community! The community of students at WSU are so supportive, accepting, helpful and loving. As someone who transferred to WSU in the middle of the pandemic as well as the middle of the year, I truly could not have made it without some amazing classmates, teammates, and friends. I have friends from WSU whose relationships will last a lifetime.

****TONIGHTS CONCERT IS CANCELED**** For the twenty-seventh consecutive year, the Winona State University Choirs will present the Christmas portion of Handel's "Messiah." The ?sing-in? styled concert, organized by Dr. Harry Mechell, will take place Saturday, December 1, at 7 p.m. in Winona State University's Harriet Johnson Auditorium, Somsen Hall, which accommodates l, 000 performers each year. Returning! The North Star Boys? Choir will be featured during the evening. In addition, renowned bass soloist and WSU faculty member Dr. Alan Dunbar will be the guest soloist. The singers of many choirs from the area will combine to form the massed choir. During the evening, music lovers from the community will be invited to sing along and share performing with the WSU Concert Choir, WSU Women?s Chorus, and ACDA student singers, all directed by Dr. Mechell. All of the choirs will perform several seasonal selections of their choice. Professional instrumentalists from the community and faculty and student instrumentalists from Winona State University will accompany the singing during the evening?s performance. Additional vocal soloists for "Messiah" will be WSU students Chris Adams, Kristen Salinas, Bethany Seifert, Hope Willenbrink, Allisa Deetz and Janelle Johnson. The ?sing-in? concept of the evening, introduced to Winona by Dr. Mechell, is unique because the audience is invited to ?sing along? with the choirs. They are encouraged to bring their own music scores to the performance. They may also purchase music at the door. All tickets will be available at the door. $10 adults. Senior citizens, WSU faculty and staff and students with WSU ID are admitted free of charge. The entire Winona community is invited. This is the year to come out and sing along, or just listen. Our second year of Throw Silence to the Wind was a huge success! We had many students come up to our table during the day to talk about mental health, depression, suicide, etc. We hope this event made an impact on the students here at WSU, and made them more aware of how pervasive mental illness is on college campuses. Thats a wrap on another great year for the Winona State University Pre-Dental Club. Yesterday we had our last meeting of the year and we ended it with our two seniors, Taylor and Madison, signing the tooth. The pre-dental club would like to thank both of them for commitment and contributions they put towards the club and we wish them the best of luck in their future! Also, we as a club would like to thank everyone that showed up to the meetings this year and actively participated in club events. Best of luck to everyone on their final exams and we cannot wait to see you next year!!!??

Tonight was senior, Alex Holms, last pre-dental club meeting of his college career. Alex created this wooden tooth during the summer before his sophomore year so we as a club could have something that makes us different from all of the other clubs here on campus. This year, Alex has decided to donate the tooth to the pre-dental club and start a new tradition. When one of our hard working students in this club graduate, they will have the opportunity to sign the tooth as they take the next step towards becoming a dentist. We would like to thank Alex for all of his hard work and dedication he has put in to this club, and also we would also like to wish him the best in his future as he pursues his goal of becoming a dentist!

As some may have heard, the mlf college series disregarded the northern and central schools in the 2023 tournament schedule so Winona state and many other northern schools have came together to create the Mid-northern collegiate bass coalition.

Attention: The sign in time for the Winona state fishing tournament is being extended until 10:00 fishing will have started however people can still come register. The cross road is blocked with a barricade for a race but it can be moved to let people into the parking lot.
