The Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) is in charge of all safety and security on campus. They’re a full service department which includes officers, detectives, dispatchers, and administrative personnel. The office is located at 1033 Massachusetts Avenue on the sixth floor. The department handles quite a lot from providing escorts to investigations into criminal activity to well being checks. They also offer self defense classes. In 2014, there were no arrests made for drug or liquor violations, weapons, murder, manslaughter, statutory rape, or arson, on campus or in the residence halls. However, there were 40 cases of burglary, 33 cases of rape, 1 case of robbery, and 1 car theft within the same year on campus. 16 of the burglaries occurred in the dorms.
