Khalid Alhilali Memorial Scholarship
The Khalid Alhilali Memorial Scholarship is a $2,500 Fall 2024 tuition award recognizing an undergraduate international student who received all or part of their preparatory education in the Middle East. Applicants must: -Be an undergraduate student currently enrolled at UT Austin. -Be enrolled full-time during the semester for which the scholarship is awarded. -Be classified as an international student, have a minimum GPA of 2.0, demonstrate financial need, and have completed part or all preparatory education in the Middle East. The scholarship is funded by an endowment created by four sisters, including two Longhorn alumnae, in honor of their late father Khalid Abdul Mehdi “Al” Alhilali. Khalid excelled in school from an early age in Baghdad. After completing his undergraduate studies at the Imperial College in London on a full scholarship, he moved to the United States to attend graduate school at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Alhilali believed in the significance of education to achieving one’s dreams, and in the importance of supporting others as one achieves success. You can read more about the Alhilali family and endowment in this story. Please note that meeting scholarship eligibility does not guarantee awarding.
