The Jannes (Teply) and Dr. Gary Weede Endowed Elementary Education Scholarship was as created in 2011 by Jannes and Gary Weede to support students with financial need in the College of Education. -Renewable: Yes, up to 1 additional year, contingent on award criteria -Need-based: Yes -Essay: Please share your philosophy of teaching. Explain how your participation in leadership and co-curricular activities has shaped this philosophy. Please limit your response to no more than 500 words. Listing: Demonstrate leadership skills through high school and college extra-curricular activities, part-time jobs, community volunteering and leadership activities -Recommendation: Two. -GPA: 3.0 Cumulative -Class: Junior or senior in good standing -Major: Elementary Education -Preferences: Exceptional enthusiasm in the classroom as determined by the scholarship selection committee -Additional Preferences: If all candidates meet the above criteria, preference will be given to first generation college attendees and/or children of public school teachers Current Students: Complete this application by December 31, 2023 (notified by March 31) Currently enrolled students in a teacher education major are eligible.
