This scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman each academic year. Scholarship Specific: The scholarship will be approximately $1,000 per year. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years as long as the student meets the criteria set forth by the Office of Student Financial Planning for receiving financial aid, is in good academic standing with the University, maintains a declared major in actuarial science, and as long as funds are available. Scholarship Requirements: The recipient of the Newt Bowers scholarship must be: -An entering first-year student at Drake University with a declared major in actuarial science. -A student who possesses evidence of exceptional academic performance, including but not limited to a minimum high school grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, and a high school math grade point average of at least 3.75 on a 4.0 scale. -A student with demonstrated financial need.
